We now offer a number of CDER options to assist practitioners to fulfill their own State or Tribal VR agency's academic requirements to be considered qualified rehabilitation professionals (QRP) in light of Federal laws and regulations and State standards.   

 

State/Tribal VR agency "Courses Only" - Some agencies do not require eligibility to sit for the CRC examination, but they accept a range of degrees for their counselors to be considered QRP, as long as they take some master's level courses in rehabilitation counseling.  The agencies usually specify to their employees what the courses should be.  They only need to complete the "abbreviated" CDER program/department application to take the courses through SDSU.  Students may complete up to six courses without applying or being admitted to the university for post graduate studies.

 

The CRCC Category A (M.S. degree) qualification to sit for the CRC examination requires the master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from a CORE accredited university (with the 600 hours of internship).  Matriculation though the CDER program requires completion of the on-line department/program application, linked to the CDER web site, and subsequent application and admission to the university via the Web Portal.

 

The CRCC Category D (Courses only) qualification to sit for the CRC examination requires a master’s in Counseling that includes one graduate-level course on Theories and Techniques of Counseling from a college or university accredited by CHEA, plus 1 - 4 of our graduate courses.  The number and content of courses required depends upon the course content of the masters degree earned and the length of each individual's service with vocational rehabilitation.  Students do not have to be admitted to SDSU in order to participate in the courses or to be credited by CRCC for the required courses/curricula to qualify to sit for the exam. They only need to complete the "abbreviated" CDER program/department application to take the courses through SDSU.  

 

The CRCC Category R (Advanced Certificate) requires that eligible applicants have one of the degrees listed by CRCC, and that they complete a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate study within an advanced, integrated program that awards a post-graduate certificate upon completion. Each student who is admitted to the program will complete six courses which already are scheduled for delivery within the CDER master's degree program.  There will not be requirements to add or alter courses or sections within the CDER program in order to serve the needs of certificate seekers. Admission to the certificate program will require completion of the on-line department/program application, which is linked to the CDER web site, and subsequent application and admission to the university via the Web Portal.
