Carol Robinson-Zañartu, Ph.D.

Director and PI Carol Robinson-Zañartu, Ph.D. specializes in issues of educational equity, especially bilingual and Native American issues, has authored or co-authored over 60 publications, and 140 professional presentations on culturally-related educational issues and on culturally appropriate assessment.

She served as Chair of SDSU's Department of Counseling and School Psychology for 16 years, and as a faculty member in school psychology for another 15.

Recently, she chaired the School Psychology Educators of California’s task force on bilingual school psychology and was lead author on the resulting white paper on best practices with dual language and English learners. She was lead editor on a special issue of Contemporary School Psychology on bilingual school psychology and chairs the Special Interest Group (SIG) on DL/ EL issues for the CA Association of School Psychologists (CASP).

Dr. Robinson-Zañartu has over 25 years’ experience as a school psychology educator, prior to which she worked as a school psychologist in public schools and principal of an alternative school for youth struggling academically. She has directed, served as project associate, or evaluator for 12 federally funded personnel preparation projects working with diverse graduate students and learners.
