Diego Arias - Summer Immersion

"My name is Diego Arias, and I am a Native Scholar from the 2010-2012 school counseling cohort.

"My reflection presentation depicts my history as an artist serving the community and the healing I experienced while on the Native Grant.

"As a creative individual, I found my voice in utilizing my strengths as an artist to inspire hope and healing among the children I served. My journey was in 'allowing myself to get lost so that I can find myself again,' a journey that began with understanding where I came from, where I was, and where I was going.

"The two immersions I experienced and the indigenous knowledge I learned from my involvement in the grant helped me find my identity."
