College Avenue Compact Agreement Renewed

August 14, 2024

On July 11, 2024, San Diego State University and the San Diego Unified School District officially signed the latest College Avenue Compact MOU. This agreement ensures that eligible Hoover High School students will have guaranteed admission to SDSU, bolstering a 26-year commitment to the City Heights community, spearheaded and financially supported by the Price Foundation.

The SDSU Center for Equity and Postsecondary Attainment Hosts Second Annual National School
Counselor Summit

San Diego, CA – August 2, 2024

The Center for Equity and Postsecondary Attainment (CEPA) proudly held the second annual National School Counselor Summit at the San Diego State University (SDSU) Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center June 7-8, 2024, drawing over 60 attendees from multiple states across the country. The event featured keynote speakers, an awards luncheon, dinner, and highlighted the work of the national school counseling fellows and their leadership/advocacy projects.

2024-2026 National School Counselor Fellows

The Center for Equity and Postsecondary Attainment (CEPA) is excited to welcome the 2024-2026 National School Counselor Fellow Cohort. The NSCF program will focus on preparing fellows to apply a practice-based approach to address the pandemic’s impact on student’s educational pathways.

Building Social Capital Equity in STEM Pathways

May 1, 2022

With the generous support of the Siemens Foundation, Education Strategy Group (ESG) is leading a two-year initiative to support five geographically diverse communities in designing and implementing long-term strategies to build, expand, and mobilize the social capital of underrepresented learners, especially those within high school STEM pathways. CEPA was selected as a community partner. Inaugural National School Counselor Fellows Program

Journal Publishes New Research about Anti-Racist College Counseling and Advising

The Journal of College Access (JCA) at Western Michigan University just published a special edition entitled, “Access and Blackness: Antiracist College Counseling and Advising,” which fills a gap in the scholarship on African-Americans and college access.  It is available online at https://scholarworks.wmich.edu/jca/vol6/iss3/. It is the third special issue published by JCA and the third issue of 2021.
