Voice Your Language Forums on Multilingual Education
Voice Your Language Forums are led by students from the Department of Dual Language and English Learner Education with the guidance of faculty mentor, Dr. Sera Hernández, and supported with funding from DEBER, DLE and Student Success Fee Academically Related Programs. The inaugural VYL Forum was held in 2015 with the guidance of Dr. Cristina Alfaro.

Voice Your Language 2016
Featuring keynote speaker Juan Felipe Herrera, the first Mexican-American U.S. poet laureate. Herrera, whose parents were migrant farmworkers, shared experiences from his childhood and read poetry, prose and stories from his bilingual children’s books.

The Latinx Education summit examined the current trends in Latinx education achievement in San Diego County. Summit organizers sought to raise community leadership and social consciousness to provide equitable experiences for students, TK-12 teachers and higher education advocates in San Diego County.
